Approximately 100 people gathered together Wednesday evening to oppose gendered violence, meeting first in a safe space for testimonials and poetry, and then participating in a march through the Illinois State campus.
Hosted by the Feminist Led Activist Movement to Empower (FLAME) and the Illinois State Women and Gender Studies Program, the Take Back the Night event promotes public awareness of domestic violence, sexual assault, and rape.
Other participating organizations included Community Action, Ilinois Choice Action Team, Planned Parenthood, Planned Parenthood Teen Awareness Group, Sexual Assault Prevention and Survivor Service (ISU), and the YWCA.
