Bloomington, IL – May 1, 2012
Members of Latinos United for Change organized a Rally and March for immigrant and worker rights on May 1, 2012.
L.U.C. was joined by several community groups in an effort to make McLean County more, immigrant friendly. Over 100 community members congregated outside the McLean Count Museum of History and listened to speakers from Latinos United for Change, Illinois People’s Action, Common Action Free School, Bloomington Normal Coalition for Peace and Justice, Bloomington/Normal Freegans, Occupy BloNo, Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University and Normal Community High School.
After the rally the group marched to the office of the McLean County Sheriff where a Non-Violent Direct Action took place to draw attention to the current policy of no discretion when honoring “ICE Holds.”
