Over 160 cyclists in Bloomington-Normal took part in the annual Ride of Silence, a national bike event honoring cyclists killed by motorists on U.S. roadways.
Scott Richardson, an organizer of the action, said that this year’s ride was the largest ever, bolstered by the momentum of growing public support for more bike lanes on city streets.
In upcoming weeks, the Bike BloNo movement will only strengthen.
Next week, bicycle advocates will convene at the Carol Reitabn Conference Center for the Midwest Bicycle Summit.
The Direct Democracy Project is organizing a monthly critical mass in BloNo, with the intention of promoting bicycle transportation on the Main Street corridor. The first BloNo Critical Mass will take place Friday, May 25th, 5:30 pm, meeting at the McLean County Museum of History in downtown Bloomington (200 N. Main Street, Bloomington). There is also Facebook page for this event.
